BEHIND THE VOICE

An artist, storyteller, and performer whose work bridges music, film, and culture.

Aïcha Gill is a Dutch-Surinamese R&B/Soul singer, songwriter, musical and voice actress. Driven by her love for music, she has built a versatile career in which she moves between writing her own music, live performances, theatre, and voice acting.

As her graduation project at the Dutch Academy of Performing Arts (DAPA), she created the musical theatre production Negra, a personal piece about identity. Around the same period, she gained national recognition as part of the girl group Sway through their participation in X Factor. With the group, she released two singles and joined a theatre tour with Angela Groothuizen.

In 2014, Aïcha made her musical theatre debut as Lorrell Robinson, a leading role in the successful Stage Entertainment production Dreamgirls. She later appeared in major musical productions such as TINA – The Tina Turner Musical. In the summer of 2025, she played Fate in Hadestown. In addition, she regularly performs in theatre tours with various artists. From March 2027, she will join the cast of The Bodyguard as the alternate for the role of Nicki Marron.

Alongside her theatre work, Aïcha is active as a voice actress. She lends her voice to various animated series and films, including Encanto (Dolores), Karma’s World (Karma), Lady and the Tramp (Lady), Totally Spies, and other productions.

As an artist, Aïcha develops her own musical identity within the R&B and Soul world. Her music is characterised by soulful and soft performances with a strong focus on storytelling. In 2017, she released her debut single Last Love Letter, followed by September. These releases marked her first steps as a solo artist, after which she has continued to grow and refine her artistic sound.

Her musical style is shaped by artists she looks up to, such as Anita Baker, Etta James, Stevie Wonder, and D’Angelo.

With a steadily growing repertoire of original music, she is currently working towards the release of her debut album in the near future.

In addition, Aïcha works as a vocal coach, guiding singers in vocal technique, performance, and artistic development.

From March 2027, she will join the cast of The Bodyguard as the alternate for the role of Nicki Marron.
